The Client

The NYU Cancer Institute, known as the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center, is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center within NYU Langone Health. It offers advanced, research-driven cancer care—including immunotherapy and precision radiation—across multiple New York locations. The center also leads innovative research and community outreach to improve treatment and reduce disparities.

The Ask

Titled “The Forest and the Trees,” the report’s design reflects the Cancer Institute’s balance of strategic vision and scientific precision. The brief called for a narrative and visual system that could translate complex oncology research into a clear, engaging story. Centered around an image-in-image design motif, the report visually conveys the layered depth of NYU’s collaborative, patient-centered approach to advancing cancer care.

Visually, we brought “The Forest and the Trees” theme to life using large- and small-scale circles paired with layered, image-in-image compositions. This motif reflected the Institute’s belief that a broad perspective on cancer research enables deeper exploration of its finer details, revealing multiple pathways to discovery.

The first path tells the story of how GE, through The GE Store, supported India in improving its strained railroad infrastructure by leveraging its vast network of companies. By connecting GE's expertise across commercial, operations, finance, legal, and more, GE helped India develop a system that was more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.
